Play and facilities

Your child will learn by actively participating in play with other children. Our team will plan, stimulate and encourage learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage. Your child's development will be carefully assessed by their 'key person' and we will do our best to ensure that their needs are met.

You will be kept up-to-date on your child's progress through an 'interactive learning diary' app which can be used by parents at home to see how their child's day has been and to add comments and photos of exciting events at home.

All children are free to move between our two large classrooms, this enables independent learning and allows children to learn from each other. We have a large variety of free choice facilities for children to play with:

  • kitchen
  • sensory den
  • role play area
  • water and sand pit
  • reading corner

and well stocked creative resources for arts, crafts and design.

Children have age related group sessions to develop their speech and language, reading, phonics, maths and understanding of the world.

Whatever activities we do indoors, we can also do outdoors. Our outdoor learning areas include:

  • climbing frame
  • water pump station
  • forest school
  • wigwam
  • mud kitchen
  • track for pushchairs, scooters and trikes
  • sandpit
  • allotment
  • reading shed
  • role play shed (theme changes each term)
  • outdoor musical instruments
  • bug hotel
  • construction area (bricks, wheelbarrows)
  • 2 outdoor classrooms

Your child will have so much fun learning at St Clement's Pre-school!

"The outdoor space and learning environments are amazing, my children have thoroughly enjoyed being able to run around, play and learn outdoors. An excellent pre-school" Parent feedback
